Weeting Castle

Distance: 5.39km (3.34 Miles)
Ascent: 11m (36ft)
Duration: 1 Hour 30 Minutes

The weather was glorious today so I met up with a couple of friends and we explored Weeting Castle and surrounding countryside.

Weeting Church.

We headed over to the castle and found the remains of an Ice House. These usually date to the 18th Century.

Weeting Castle, sadly it had lots of scaffolding for repair works. The castle was built in 1180.

Not a cloud in the sky today.

Classic Breckland scene. The area is famous for being very dry, with a sandy soil and acid grassland with much of the woodland being Scots Pine.

Vipers Bugloss keeping the remaining bees fed.

A distant bronze age burial mound.
