Kinder Scout Wild Camp

Distance: 5.78km (3.6 Miles)
Ascent: 427m (1401ft)
Duration: Wild Camp

With a free weekend available I decided to head up north and see a friend who lived in Sheffield but also take the chance to do a wild camp on the Kinder Plateau. My walk would take me to the summit of Kinder Low before setting up camp with the following day completing over 13 miles around the plateau checking out plane wreckages and trig points.

My original plan was to head up Grindsbrook and camp around Kinder Low but due to road closures along the A1 I arrived about 1.5hrs later than I had hoped for. What didn’t help is that I finished a night shift this morning too, had just 3 hours sleep, drove 4 hours to get here and now hiking to the highest point in the national park! But time for an epic adventure!

Edale Rocks on the skyline. I will be passing there soon!

Lose Hill along the great ridge.

Cascades along the River Noe.

At the top of Jacobs Ladder.

A view up to Edale Rocks. Fingers crossed I make it for the sunset!

Approaching Edale Rocks after the strenuous ascent along Jacobs Ladder.

The sunset from Kinder Low. Spectacular!

Beautiful!

My little Bivi set up just below Kinder Low and overlooking Manchester.

Enjoying the view before having dinner and getting some sleep before the long day tomorrow.
