B-29 Superfortress
Distance: 9.74km
Ascent: 216m
Duration: 3 Hours 11 Minutes
Today I was out walking with Nick who suggested a walk up to the B29 Superfortress Crash Site as his dad had never seen it and was keen on visiting the site. The weather held beautifully for most of the day and we tied in the summit of Bleaklow Head too.
Starting off at Doctors Gate and heading into the moors. Our first goal was the Bleaklow Head Summit via the Pennine Way.
The summit of Bleaklow Head.
Incredible open views as we crossed the plateau of Bleaklow.
Very distant hills which I am under the impression was the hills in North Wales.
Iām pretty sure waaaay over in the distance over there are the Mountains in Eryri National Park.
The skyscrapers of Manchester.
Distant wind turbines I think near Rochdale.
Pendle Hill in the far distance.
Arriving at the crash site and exploring the remains.
Always something new to see here.
Time to head back down where we crossed the moor and re-joined the Pennine Way.
