Thorpe Cloud

Distance: 3.79km (2.35 Miles)
Ascent: 151m (496ft)
Duration: 1 Hour 36 Minutes

Today we arrived in the Peak District for a short break with the family and managed to get a few spare hours to explore a bit of Dove Dale and head to the summit of Thorpe Cloud, a superb limestone peak overlooking Dovedale Stepping stones.

Setting off from the National Trust Car Park and up the side of Thorpe Cloud - and a break in the rain as the blue sky arrives.

The polished limestone rocky summit of Thorpe Cloud. Up here in less than 20 minutes.

The epic view down towards Dovedale.

A glimpse of the Stepping Stones.

We sat here for about 20 minutes enjoying the stunning view.

Looking back to the summit as we begin to descend.

There had been plenty of rain recently so the stepping stones were slightly flooded but not bad enough to stop us from crossing!

A final view back into Dovedale.
