Catbells

Distance: 4.98km (3.09 Miles)
Ascent: 349m (1145ft)
Duration: 1 Hours 8 Minutes

With the recent hot and sunny weather I thought that I must try and get out to enjoy it sometime! So after work today I headed up little old Catbells.

Swinside Lodge backed by Skiddaw from the very start of the walk. Clear blue skies overhead this afternoon.

Derwent Water and Blencathra.

Walla Crag and Bleaberry Fell. As you have probably guessed it was VERY hot today and when I was at work I thought that the sun would be less intense by the time I got out. It may have been but it was still almost unbearable!

I was running up some parts of Skelgill Bank though... (Trying to get to the top in under 30 mins)

Swinside, Keswick and Derwent Water all backed by Skiddaw.

The ridge from Skelgill Bank leading all the way to the top of Catbells.

The same view but in Landscape and showing a small part of Derwent Water and the Jaws of Borrowdale.

The view down to Skelgill Bank from the final part of ascent.

Catbells summit and cairn (which sometimes disappears). Made it up here in 25 Minutes!

The view north to Bassenthwaite Lake and Skiddaw.

The Helvellyn Range behind the Central Fells of Bleaberry Fell and High Seat.

A glider over Borrowdale.

A rather blinding view of the Newlands Valley.

Yewthwaite Mines.

Causey Pike and a small section of Newlands.

Catbells summit way up there somewhere.

And my final path back to the car. The gentleman in front is up here on holiday staying at Stair (Newlands is his favourite valley). I was speaking to him for about 10 minutes on the summit of Catbells.
