Derwent Water is a very popular lake with many vantage points offering spectacular views down the lake and to surrounding fells. One of the most famous is surprise view and Ashness Bridge looking north over the lake to Skiddaw. Another view point is that of Catbells from Friars Crag. This is a popular destination if walking from Keswick. The nearby summits of Walla Crag, Castle Crag and Catbells offer superb views down to the lake too.
