Sheffield Pike & Hart Side

Distance: 17.2km (10.68 Miles)
Ascent: 1566m (5138ft)
Duration: 5 Hours 37 Minutes

I had a linear route planned for today and was dropped off at Glenridding and picked up at Aira Force. This allowed me to get in several Wainwrights as well as a series of Birketts that I needed to summit.

The lovely valley of Glenridding with Birkhouse Moor high to the left and Raise over to the right.

I am at the top of The Rake here which was a very steep path (and because of the wind direction it was a sweaty walk too). The rocky peak over there is Heron Pike which is the same height as the other Heron Pike near Grasmere.

The summit of Glenridding Dodd. Thats Place Fell behind and Angletarn Pikes over to the right.

This time with Birkhouse Moor, the pointed summit of Catstye Cam and Raise over to the right.

Ullswater from Glenridding Dodd.

Lots of fells to the south east. The little one in the foreground is Arnison Crag.

Heron Pike. The ridge along the left is the one I will take up to the top.

Catstye Cam.

Hart Side - that’s the last Wainwright I will do today.

Birks and St Sunday Crag.

Gowbarrow Fell and Ullswater.

Still some snow on Helvellyn.

The summit of Heron Pike (Birkett).

Now thats a cracker of a view!!

The small cairn on Heron Pike with Helvellyn behind.

And here again but looking towards Ullswater.

Helvellyn from Sheffield Pike.

White Stones to the left (the highest point today) and Hart Side to the right.

Thats the ridge I will be following which takes me down to High Force and Aira Force which are both in the trees on the far right below Gowbarrow Fell.

Raise...

... And its Ski Lift.

A mighty quarry on the eastern side of White Stones.

One of the many cairns on White Stones.
