Grindslow Knoll via Crowden Clough

Distance: 10.51km (6.53 Miles)
Ascent: 432m (1417ft)
Duration: 3 Hours 58 Minutes

Having arrived in the Peak District for just a short stay I met up with Megan for a hike up to the Kinder Plateau via Crowden Clough as I had read about this scramble just a few days earlier. It turned out to be a poor weather day but what an excellent scramble!

Low cloud and poor visibility this morning.

Crowden Brook.

The path ahead with Crowden Clough to the right of the hillside.

A waterfall along Crowden Brook.

Another of many waterfalls along Crowden Brook.

Hitting the cloud base as we arrive at Crowden Clough. The path continues up the hillside but instead you need to keep to the stream and a faint path sticks to its edge.

Scrambling up along the waterfalls.

The last of the waterfalls along Crowden Clough with the scramble just to the left which made for a unique and interesting climb.

Finally given some long distance views from Grindslow Knoll.

The path ahead from Grindslow Knoll to the crash site I have planned to visit on this walk.

Just off the path is a small cross and some small metal remains of the crash site where a Hayford Mk. III crashed on the 22nd July 1937. More details can be found here.
