Friars Crag and Castlerigg Stone Circle
Distance: 8.0km (4.97 Miles)
Ascent: 100m (328ft)
Duration: 3 Hours
Today was a beautiful sunny day in the lakes. We were already in Keswick so we headed down to Friars Crag on the shores of Derwent Water and then in the evening, walked up to Castlerigg Stone Circle.
The River Greta as we walked through Keswick.
And again looking upstream, with Latrigg just behind the trees.
A panoramic shot from Friars Crag, looking down the lake to Castle Crag and Catbells.
Catbells and Causey Pike from in Derwent Water. The rocks on the right make up part of Friars Crag.
The landing stage at Derwent Bay - very busy today!
Now up to Castlerigg Stone Circle.
Helvellyn behind High Rigg.
Blencathra from the stone circle.
It was busy up here, with at least 20 or so people. I managed to get this photo showing a large section of the circle with no-one in it.
Sun beams over Latrigg and Skiddaw.
Last photo of Castlerigg Stone Circle before heading back into town.
A few people still on Latrigg.
