Bowfell was the third Wainwright I ever climbed back in April 2007 and there is no reason I have been putting it off, it's an awesome fell! Nice to be up here in wintery conditions too!

I had to start todays walk from New Dungeon Ghyll because after arriving at Old Dungeon Ghyll the car park was already full! This photo is showing a dusting of snow on Crinkle Crags and Bowfell. The ridge in the centre is The Band which I will be descending down.

Bowfell and Rossett Pike.

Rossett Pike ahead. My path took me to the depression to the left of Rossett Pike.

The weather forecast was for it to clear up and be a bit sunnier. Unfortunately this never happened and the cloud never lifted.

My approach to Bowfell.

The cloud just started to break as I descended from Bowfell. This is the Great Slab.

The Band. On the way down I nipped up to the summit (Birkett fell).

The Band summit is just a rocky platform.
