Scales Tarn is in a calm and beautiful place high up on Blencathra. The tarn is frequently visited en-route to the summit of Blencathra, mostly as a pitstop before attempting the legendary Sharp Edge on the tarns northern side. During the ascent of the Edge and whilst walking along the saddle there are spectacular views down to the tarn and to the surrounding fells. In my opinion, one of the most beautiful mountain tarns.
