Levers Water

Elevation: 413m (1355ft)
Depth: 125ft
Location: Brim Fell / Swirl How

Levers Water is a naturally occurring tarn, but was enlarged by a dam in 1717 to provide water and power to the copper mines below. It now supplies water to Coniston and the surrounding villages. It is easily accessed by walking to the top of the Copper mines valley, or from Wetherlam or the ridge linking Coniston Old Man with Brim Fell and Swirl How.
