Thirlmere

Elevation: 178m (584ft)
Depth: 131ft
Location: Central Lakes

Thirlmere is a large reservoir that used to be two smaller lakes; Wythburn Water and Leathes Water. A dam was constructed at the northern tip to flood the valley. The villages of Armboth and Wythburn were flooded in the process. It is a well seen lake thanks to the A591 running alongside with great views down to the lake.
